European Innovation Council (EIC) open pathfinder
FIBER3D
I’m very glad that our innovation project Fiber3D, for which I’m honored to serve as project leader, has been funded under the EIC - European Innovation Council Pathfinder Open program! 🚀
I can’t wait to work with our consortium of fantastic researchers, Sara Bagherifard (Politecnico di Milano), Roland Logé (EPFL), Francesco Delloro (Mines Paris - PSL), Nazila Safari Yazd (RISE Research Institutes of Sweden), Kamil Kosiel (Łukasiewicz – Poznański Instytut Technologiczny), Robert Socha (CBRTP) and Patrizio Lomonaco.
Special thanks to Quentin Dollé, who contributed to this success as a postdoctoral fellow at Institut Polytechnique de Paris.
Fiber3D pioneers a new fabrication method that integrates optical fibre sensors directly into metal structures using advanced 3D-printing and spraying techniques. This innovation allows real-time monitoring of temperature and strain in critical infrastructure such as railways, hydrogen pipelines, and nuclear power plants, dramatically improving safety, sustainability, and maintenance efficiency.
